BLOG - 01/19/09 Website Update We are a little late getting the new website uploaded, but we managed to get it done. The new look for 2009 has been running for about a week now. There are still some changes to be made and additional information that will be posted soon. CPSIA The major issue concerning screen printers currently is the compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). As the law stands we would be forced after February 10th 2009 to provide a certification of compliance if our products will be worn by children under the age of 12. Since Houston Screen Print primarily uses the Ultrasoft line of plastisol ink manufactured by Union Ink, we would not be in compliance. I'm in the process of ordering some Enviromax ink from One Stroke ink which is in compliance with the CPSIA law. At least using this ink during the screen printing process would produce a phthalate safe product. However, Houston Screen Print currently does not print any screen printed garments specifically targeting children under the age of 12, so we will remain open for business unlike other business who may be force to close because of the CPSAI law. It really is a shame that our government law makers created a law that hinders small and medium size business that truly give back to this great nation we call America! Business On the screen printing front, Houston Screen Print is in the process of completing 2 jobs for returning customers and also emailed out 3 quotes for potential new business. Returning customers make up about 90% of our business since we started. We like to think that is because of the great service, good products, and quick turn around time we strive to meet on each order. It does not mean you purchased a screen or that we keep your artwork on screens. Artwork charges apply if artwork is not screen print ready. If customer provides shirts, Houston Screen Print will not warranty the work and any misprints will be considered as a print owed and not a garment owed. If a dispute occurs and legal action is necessary, customer waives the right to mediation and Houston Screen Print shall seek resolution through the courts. All sales are final since artwork approval is necessary before a job can be scheduled for printing and each job is custom. Credit card sales are processed at the time of sale and not after delivery.
