BLOG - 01/21/09 Printing 100% Polyester Safter Vest We printed a job today on safety vest, you know the highly reflective ones your often see security guards or policemen wearing while directing traffic or on patrol. However, these were to be worn by workers working in a plant site. Up until today we had never had the request to print on these types of vest so it was a welcome change from the typical tshirts we print on a daily bases. The vest were 100% polyester which we normally don't print on because we cannot control any dye migration that may occur between the dye used to dye the item and the ink we print with. Yes there are some brands of ink that are specifically designed to be used on 100% polyester items, but we don't stock them on a regular bases. So generally we just don't print on 100% polyester items. But if you have a light colored item and want dark ink then it is no problem. For this job the vest were a fluorescent yellowish green and the ink color to be printed was black. The job printed fine and the customer was happy.
